Using the Taylor SpeedStir Magnetic Stirrer Cuts Testing Time in Half
Testing pool water requires accuracy and reliability. You need to be comfortable enough to trust the results before adding chemicals.
There is no question that a testing kit is more accurate and reliable than test strips.
However, using a drop-based kit can be quite time-consuming and can potentially take 5-10 minutes to run through all parameters, whereas a strip takes less than 30 seconds to get a reading.
While nothing can compare to the speed of a test strip, using the SpeedStir Magnetic Stirrer from Taylor Technologies can cut testing time from a testing kit in half.
What Does the SpeedStir Do?
When using a drop-based test, it is recommended to swirl after each drop of reagent. The process is as follows: drop, swirl, count…drop, swirl, count.
While it might not seem like a lot of work, some tests can be in excess of 30 drops. That is a lot of swirling and counting!
The SpeedStir continuously spins the water sample which eliminates the constant manual swirling. The only part you are responsible for is the dropping and counting. This makes the test much easier and faster.
How Does it Work?
The SpeedStir uses a magnetic “pill” that you drop in the water sample. The magnetic platform then spins the pill at 600 rpm, ensuring each drop of reagent is thoroughly incorporated into the water sample.
There is also an LED light available to ensure a color change is not missed.
Keep in mind the SpeedStir works best with a Taylor testing kit, specifically the #9198 testing tube.
Does the SpeedStir Really Cut Testing in Half?
Here is an example of a free chlorine (FC) test being done the manual way vs using the SpeedStir.
Try it For Yourself
Those of you who exclusively use testing kits can appreciate any method that will eliminate the swirl. Even saving 5 minutes per testing session gives you that much more time enjoying the pool!
